We feel supremely blessed to have had Alli as part of our family for roughly 10 months. Each visit we looked forward to sharing our lives, questions and concerns about pregnancy, birthing options, and so much more. Alli took the time to hear my husband and I share our excitement, anticipation and elation. Never did we feel that she had an agenda.
Alli provided the best care throughout the delivery. Labor turned into a 30+hour epic- harder than any bike, mulitsport, ski or triathlon race that I had ever endured. We ended up transferring to Summit Medical Center to allow me a 'break' before the 2nd half of delivery. Maintaining Alli alongside that scary and emotionally tough transfer was priceless. Alli and Michelle (our Doula) stayed the entire time with us at the hospital!
Logan Col Zander was born a wee 6lbs, 2oz but he was as strong-willed as a bull. It was his timing for sure. Alli came for home visits the following weeks. The biggest piece we valued was her soft, caring demeanor that enabled us to de-brief the birth. It was a tough experience. Emotional, physical, even spiritual. Realizing that there were no failures, just Logan's birth story, helped us come to terms with the belief that transferring, and not finishing at home, was ok. It was just the way birth turned out.
We would recommend Alli and Mountain Family Midwifery to any family who are looking for MORE out of a birth story. Personalized, loving, intimate. That said, there are decisions you have to research, ask, then own. Alli and her team will guide you if you'd like, but ultimately the choice is yours. Just like raising your child, there are no real blueprints, do what feels right.
